Older And Wiser
Grand Teton National Park, WY
The Grand Tetons are the youngest mountains
in the Rocky Mountain system, but are made
of some of the oldest rock in North America.
Surrounded by Lodgepole pines, the rising
of the Teton Range and corresponding sinking
of Jackson Hole created an ever changing landscape
over the centuries. In fact, this entire area
looks different each time one visits, with
the ever changing course of the Snake River
and associated terrain.

Nature's Shadow
Arches National Park, UT
Protected in the shadow of this colorful
monolith, the plants and trees receive just
the right amount of light and nutrients to
survive and flourish. One can only wonder
how many generations of flora and fauna were
offered this same protection.

A Glimpse at Chetro Ketl
Chaco Culture NHP, Chaco Canyon, NM
Chaco Canyon was a major center of ancestral
Puebloan culture a thousand years ago. An
active archeological dig, major ruins in the
canyon have shown monumental masonry buildings,
a network of roads, and evidence of a complexity
of community life, commerce, and ceremony.
Chetro Ketl is one of the largest Chaco structures
in the canyon, containing a great kiva and
a colonnade along a plaza.

Overlooking The Canyon
Canyon De Chelly Natl Monument, AZ
From this commanding view, the Canyon is
a stark contrast to the surface beyond. The
late day colors and intricacy of its
various habitats show the true beauty of this
private world. The Canyon provides rich history
of five periods of Native American culture
(Archaic, Basketmakers, Anasazi, Hopi, and
Navajo) dating back to 2500 B.C. Now occupied
by the Navajo, the Canyon still provides a
home and rich pastures for farming and livestock.
