Natural Mountain Bowl
Upper Blue Lake Reservoir, CO
This reservoir located up among the high
peaks, serves the city of Colorado Springs.
While the reservoir was designed to hold the
water from Blue River, the surrounding mountains
continue the theme by looking like a “natural
bowl” to catch the water that comes down
from the sky.

When I first saw this image, it looked like
the older tree was “putting an arm around”
one of it’s children while looking out
over the world. The colors, textures, and

Siamese Twins

This 1367-acre city park at the base of Pikes
Peak was a little bit of heaven during my
visit to Colorado Springs. In the early morning
the rock formations burst with color and the
peace and serenity of the trails is like an
oasis in the desert. The Siamese Twins rock
formation frames Pikes Peak in the background.

Serenity With Altitude

This image seems to capture it all! High
peaks, the cool water of Lake Dillon, Lodge
pole Pines, and the stillness that comes shortly
after a rain shower. I passed this spot on
a bike trail several times and finally captured
exactly the image I had in mind.

Road To Mount Lemmon
Tucson, AZ
The gracefulness of this accomplishment of
engineering is a well suited complement to
the diversity of life in this altitude dependent
environment. At the base of the mountain,
Saguaro cactus are abundant in the Sonoran
Desert, but at 9000 feet Pine forests are
dominant. Along the way, rock formations,
called “hoodoos,” can be seen where
great fissures in the Granite were eroded
away leaving columns that appear to defy gravity.

At two miles up, the Colorado terrain becomes
quite varied, but the peaks are always spectacular.
This scene shows a quiet little scene that
caught my attention during my drive to Aspen.
The serenity of the small barn and field nestled
among the peaks is something to relax by after
a stressful day.

One early morning I drove the perimeter road
around Lake Dillon. I could not help but stop
to capture the unusual stillness of the lake
